Click to expand.I wish these woyld have been available when I got my gt 10. That thing was an end all product if you knew how to tweak it in context with how you were going to apply it in a performance situation. I never had the luxury of being forced to apply it and decided not to go down the rabbit hole tweaking that thing. It is just too broad to be used as a simple plug and play unit. When I got it I was moving on from a pod hd that gave me the same problem. Those units are very powerful if you have control of every other aspect in the arena in which it will be applied. Too many wrinkles and inconsistencies among other players/instruments/mixes made these units difficult for me.
The current generation has picked up on these issues (ir) and the whole thing has been blown wide open.I bet the gt 10 sounds killer with current generation cab sims. Line 6 stuff too for that matter. Hi all,I currently have the following modellers: DV Mark Multiamp 500w Stereo; Boss GT100; Atomic Amplifire 3; Eleven Rack; and Zoom G3. Been all the way there and back with: other modellers (not the 'big 3'); purchased patches; FRFRs; monitors; IRs; and un-productive late nights.
Wasted a great deal of time (and money). However, nothing sounded as good as the GT100 into the loop of my tube Egnater Tweaker 88 into Egnater Elite-50's (Celestion G12H-30's modded to 50 watts) into 2 x 2x12 open backed cabs. Took a long time to accept/admit this. The Multiamp is also very good (unfortunately, it is still at the shop getting a new power amp section).Currently using the GT100 into a SS stereo amp (Harley Benton GPA-400: 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms) + guitar cabs. Sounds great at low to medium volumes, but cracks/'harshes' up a bit at industrial gig volumes. The GT100 in stereo is a thing of beauty (particularly running two amp chains) and the display, assigns, switching, and 'all-in-one' functionality cannot be beaten for live playing. The wah is a little lame, but who else but the guitarist can tell at a gig?Just bought a Carvin TS-100 tube power amp (due Wednesday) to add some warm tubey grunt and stereo goodness (50 watts per channel - can also be mono bridged to 100 watts). If the GT100 & TS-100 stereo combination is as good as I expect, then I will sell the AA3, Eleven Rack, Zoom G3 and a whole bunch of pedals. I may keep the Tweaker 88.I can rack the Multiamp & TS-100 into a 4 space unit and run the GT100 into either (midi switching and 4CM for the Multiamp or GT100 direct for the TS-100).
By also bringing the small Multiamp midi unit I will have two complete setups to insure against component failure. At the risk of committing TGP heresy, I will be glad to get off the micro-modelling/IR merry go round and focus on playing. Of course the GT100 is a modeller, but it is more 'dial up and go'.I am however, looking forward to meeting the GT200.Cheers!Paul. Run directly into a tube amp it sounds wonderful. I don't have any experience running it direct to a SS amp, but I imagine it could be ear piercing with a bright amp. Also check that there is no clipping and the playback type is set correctly in the system menu.My opinion of Line6 is that they model amps based on what people believe they should sound/play like, not what they actually are. We are in a weird territory where digital modelers are being made for people who don't have much experience playing real amps.Nothing has come out that has made me envious or want to upgrade. And like you, I am more interested in playing than tweaking to infinity.
Ambient Patches For Eleven Rack Wall
We’re excited to introduce a special guest blogger to Inside Out: multi-talented composer and guitarist David Torn. He’s been using Eleven Rack since it launched, and has created some killer patches for his own projects. We’re stoked that he agreed to share them with you here. Thanks, David!
– Avid Community Teamhi, folks.david torn, (also, aka splattercell), here.i'm a composer & guitarist, ECM recording artist, texturalist & occasional producer of music;i haven't bothered to associate myself with any single musical idiom, but remain focused onthe art & efforts towards personal expression.i love music.i've worked w/ david bowie, tim berne, jan garbarek, john legend, tori amos, chocolategenius, david sylvian, don cherry, kd lang, john legend, madonna, etc,and have scored films like 'Lars & the Real Girl,' 'Friday Night Lights,' 'The Wackness,'Anvil,' etc.about my patches:well. I'm really happy to be giving all y'all this stuff.please consider these patches to be works-in-progress, originally programmed to fulfill myown specific sonic needs in the studio.i continuously program more of 'em, as i happily persist in playing the eleven rack daily.truth!note that i do make use of the True-Z parameter in the patches;as well, check the external FX-loop programming in the patches, as i tend to use it,sometimes, and. I haven't used the internal FX pedal switches too much, myself, yet. But you surely cando so.i've recorded clips for many of the patches for ya, to give some indicators as to my own use ofthem.i do tend to use the volume & tone ctrls on my gtrs, fwiw.gtrs used on the clips were primarily a D'Pergo AVCL and a Teuffel Niwa.enjoy these, i hope!dLi'l Blackface Stack DT.
